
Jackson Tosses Complete Game, Fans 14 in 4-1 Win over Texas Tech

Texas A&M junior lefthander Zach Jackson hurled a complete-game three-hitter to lead the 10th-ranked Aggies to a 4-1 victory over Texas Tech before an overflow crowd of 7,253 at Olsen Field on Saturday night.
Jackson (6-1), a transfer from the University of Louisville, hit three batters, walked two and struck out a career-high 14 Red Raiders.
The win improves A&M's record to 23-5 and 3-2 in Big 12 play, while Texas Tech falls to 16-9 and 0-2 in league action. The series finale will be played on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Olsen Field.
Austin Boggs picked up where he left off from Friday night with a solo homerun off Texas Tech starter Steven Thomas in the bottom of the first.
Jackson escaped a bases-loaded jam in the top of the third by striking out his fourth hitter of the inning. Madison Edwards led off the third with a strikeout, but reached on a passed ball by Craig Stinson. After a strikeout, Blair Cameron was hit by a pitch and Jose Delgado singled. Jackson struck out Michael Mask swinging and Josh Brady was called out on strikes.
The Aggies tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom half of the fourth. Cory Patton doubled to the gap in right center and scored on a single by Coby Mavroulis, who advanced to second on the throw to the plate. Stinson's groundout to first moved Mavroulis to third and Andrew Baldwin's sacrifice fly allowed him to trot home and make the score 3-0.
The Red Raiders finally got to Jackson for a run in the top of the sixth. Delgado singled, Mask walked and Brady singled to load the bases with no outs. After Josh Haney fanned, pinch-hitter Cody Fuller flew out to right to plate Delgado and cut the A&M lead to 3-1.
A&M added another run in the bottom of the eighth as John Infante led off with a double down the leftfield line and after Eric Schindewolf was called out for running inside the line on a sacrifice bunt, Cliff Pennington singled to left to score Infante from second.
Thomas suffered the loss for Tech, allowing four runs on seven hits in 7.1 innings of work.
