
Five Aggies Selected to Big 12 All-Conference Teams

The 11th-ranked Texas A&M soccer team had four of its members selected to the First Team All-Big 12 and one to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, the league announced Monday.
First team selections included senior, goalkeeper Kati Jo Spisak, senior, midfielder Laura Probst and sophomore forwards Ashlee Pistorius and Melissa Garey.
Making the list for the Aggies in the on the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team is freshman, midfielder Laura Grace Robinson.
The 2005 season earned the Aggies their fourth Big 12 Regular Season Title (1997, 2002, 2004 and 2005).
Spisak (Manchester, Mo.) currently holds the best goals against average in the conference (0.72) and is tied for the league lead in most shutouts with seven. Spisak now has 28 career shutouts and 272 saves which places her second in the Aggie career record books. She was a member for the 2002 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and 2003 1st Team All-Big 12.
Pistorius (Normal, Ill.), last year's Big 12 Rookie of the Year, just recently earned her second career hat-trick and the Aggie record for most goals in a single game (4). She was last year's Big 12 Newcomer of the Week three times and found herself honored as Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week twice this season (10/18, 10/31). Pistorius has managed to net the ball 15 times thus far in 2005 which ties her with teammate Melissa Garey for the league lead. Pistorius also leads the Big 12 with 40 points and her six game-winning goals tie her for the conference lead.
Probst (Arvada, Colo.) has racked up four goals and seven assists this season which places her in the top five Aggie all-time assist leaders (29). Laura has recorded two multi-goal games, one against Washington in the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic and the second in conference play against Oklahoma in Norman. She was a 2003 1st Team All-Big 12 selection.
Garey (Gonzales, La.) has found the back of the net 15 times this season, tying her with teammate Pistorius for the team and league lead in most goals scored. Her scoring ability has found Melissa honored twice this season as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week (8/29, 9/27). She was also listed on the Soccer Buzz, Soccer America and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the week (9/27-9/28). Garey's also contributed three assists and played in all 18 of the Aggies' matches this season.
Robinson (Houston, Texas) earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week accolades for her play against Baylor. This was her first career Big 12 honor until now. The Houston native has played in all 18 of the Aggies' matches this season, helping the Aggies gain and maintain possession of the ball in the middle of the field. Robinson has recorded two goals with three assists and has taken 28 shots thus far.
The Aggies will begin defense of their 2004 tournament title on Wednesday at 11 a.m. (CST) when they face Missouri in the quarterfinals at the Blossom Athletic Complex.
