
Aggies Fall In Quarterfinals at UT Invitational

In its fall season closer, the Texas A&M men?™s tennis team reached the quarterfinals of singles and doubles play at the University of Texas Invitational held Saturday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
Senior Matt Bain (Georgetown, Texas) advanced to quarterfinal action with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Francisco Segura of Laredo CC in the round of 16. He later lost to third-seeded Ed Corrie of Texas in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Meanwhile, sophomore Brad Williams (Cape Town, South Africa) fell behind in his round of 16 match to Matt Brooklyn of Arizona State, 6-1, 7-6.
In doubles play, the fourth-seeded combination of Bain and Williams outlasted Jarrod Epkey and Jorge Rodriguez of Ball State, 8-6, in the round of 16. The Aggie duo later fell to Brett Binkley and Mark Rutherford of Marquette, 8-3, in the quarterfinals.
A&M will return to the courts after the winter break and prepare for its spring season which will include 21 dual matches against opponents all ranked in last year?™s final FILA/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. The Aggies will play host to Clemson in their season opener scheduled for Jan. 25 at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
