Aggie Netters Drop 4-3 Decision to Red Raiders

The No. 19 Texas A&M men?™s tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 21 Texas Tech Saturday at the McLeod Tennis Center.
After losing the doubles point, the Aggies (9-6 overall, 0-1 Big 12) battled back to knot the score at 3-3, but Texas Tech?™s Michael Breler prevailed over Kayvon Karimi, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, at the No. 6 line to give the Red Raiders the victory in both teams?™ Big 12 Conference opener.
"It was a really close match," second-year Aggie head coach Steve Denton said. "It's pretty tough to win four singles matches here, and Texas Tech deserved to win because they came up with the good shots when the match was on the line. The last match was indicative of the whole day, which was good, quality tennis. Tech was just a little bit better and came out on top today."
The Aggies fell behind 2-0 before No. 23 Conor Pollock put A&M on the scoreboard with a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 33 Bojan Szumanski at No. 1 singles. Senior Matt Bain evened the score at 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Christian Rojmar at the No. 5 line. Texas Tech regained the lead with a win at No. 4 singles, but A&M freshman Austin Krajicek made it 3-3 all with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Lenoir Ramos at No. 3 set up the last man standing match between Karimi and Breler.
