
Mautz Heads to England with U.S. U-20 Women's National Team

LONDON- Texas A&M sophomore forward Alyssa Mautz was one of 20 players selected to travel to England for a pair of friendlies, as the U.S. U-20 WNT prepares for the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Chile.
After a successful run in the 2008 CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Qualifying Tournament, the U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team has earned its berth to the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Chile and now buckles down for about four months of preparation before the world championship.
After conducting a training camp in Somerset, N.J. this past week, the team is now heading to England to face Arsenal FC and Chelsea FC in a pair of matches against women’s Premier League clubs. After bringing 28 players to training camp in New Jersey, U.S. head coach Tony DiCicco has whittled his squad down to 20 for the England trip.
The USA will face Arsenal on Friday, Aug. 1 and Chelsea on Tuesday, Aug. 5. The USA qualified for the U-20 Women’s World Cup along with Canada, who defeated the USA 1-0 in the title game, and Mexico. The field is complete for the 2008 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup that will feature 16 teams.
