ST. LOUIS - Former Texas A&M All-American soccer player Ashlee Pistorius is trying to fulfill a life-long dream by becoming a member of the Saint Louis Athletica of the Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) league.
Pistorius is currently one of six forwards listed on the 24-player Saint Louis roster. The next mandated roster transactions come on March 25 when all teams of the WPS must announce their final opening day rosters. The final rosters will consist of 18 active players plus four optional developmental players.
Pistorius surpassed Bryn Blalack as the Aggies' all-time goals (81) and points (194) leader. The Bloomington, Ill., native also broke the Big 12's career record in both categories. The 5'10" forward was the 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and led the nation in total goals scored (25). She was a NSCAA second-team All-American in 2006, third-team All-American in 2007 and a four-time Soccer Buzz All-American.
Former Aggie soccer players Allison Martino and Kati Jo Spisak join Pistorius in the WPS. Martino was drafted by the Boston Breakers in the ninth round as the 57th pick while Spisak was drafted by the Washington Freedom in the eighth round and was the 50th pick overall.
