Aggies collect 18 wins at Miami Hurricane Invite

A double winner for the Aggies was Laura Asimakis, who claimed the javelin with a toss of 164-7 (50.17) on just one attempt. Later she won the pole vault with a clearance of 13-5.25 (4.10).
"The one throw in the javelin was great," noted Asimakis. "It was another consistent throw over 160 feet. I used a full approach today and look forward to throwing the javelin some more.
"The wind didn't really bother me in either event. I thought it would in the javelin, with the crazy crosswind, but I didn't notice it. In the pole vault it provided the perfect tailwind. I got on the big poles again and attempted a height (13-9.25) I should have cleared today."
Finishing second to Asimakis in the pole vault was Aly Daily with a height of 12-9.5 (3.90). In the javelin Asimakis led an Aggie 1-2-3-4-6 effort with the crew of Lauren Berg (144-0), Bonnie Richardson (136-1), Kelly Czumble (125-0) and Daily (108-10).
The 400 meters offered a showcase for the Aggies as Deon Lendore rolled to an impressive 45.56 winning time as teammates Oscar Ramirez (47.34) and Michael Preble (48.05) placed fourth and fifth. Lendore moves to No. 9 on the A&M all-time list, one spot ahead of Ted Nelson's 45.93 from 1965.
For the Aggie women Kanika Beckles powered to a time of 52.92 from lane one to place third overall as the top collegian in the field. Former Auburn sprinter Joanna Atkins won the race in 51.85 with Jenna Martin runner-up at 52.22. Beckles moves to No. 5 on the A&M all-time list ahead of a 1993 mark of 53.33 by Sharon Haywood.
Behind Beckles the Aggies had a 53.42 from Ibukun Mayungbe, second collegian and fifth overall, as well as a 53.55 by Olivia Ekponé, fourth collegian and seventh overall. Ekponé is now No. 7 on the A&M all-time list.
Donique' Flemings set another career best time in claiming her fifth victory of the season over the 100 hurdles. Flemings clocked 13.17 into a slight headwind (-0.4) to better a couple of post-collegians - Sandra Gomis (13.33) and LaVonne Idlette (13.57).
Brea Garrett won the B race of the 100 hurdles in 14.19 (0.0 wind) and then moved over to the shot put and placed second to teammate Taylor Rosser. A mark of 46-6 won the shot put for Rosser while Garrett had a 45-5.25 for second place.
The A&M men swept the two relay events, winning the 4 x 100 in 39.45 and then finishing off the meet with a 3:06.44 victory in the 4 x 400 relay.
Running on the sprint relay was the foursome of Ricky Babineaux, Ameer Webb, Michael Bryan and Prezel Hardy, Jr. They defeated a post-collegiate squad called Star Athletics (40.35) and Miami (40.72) while a second crew of Aggies ran 41.67 for fourth. The second A&M squad included Carlyle Roudette, Wayne Davis II, Kenneth Minkah and Jonathan Turner.
In the 4 x 400 the Aggie crew of Roudette (47.1), Babineaux (46.4), Preble (47.7) and Lendore (45.2) left Auburn chasing for second place in 3:08.95 while a second A&M 4 x 400 placed third in 3:11.52. Running on the other Aggie squad were Ashton Young, Ramirez, Josh Hernandez and Gregory Coleman.
The Texas A&M women were the top collegiate squads in both relay races. The Aggies clocked times of 43.62 and 3:38.85. A professional 4 x 100, Rising Stars, won the sprint relay in 43.57 as A&M ran with LaKeidra Stewart, Ekponé, Dominique Duncan and Ashley Collier. Auburn finished third in 44.18.
In the 4 x 400 it was Rising Stars winning in 3:32.33 with the Aggies running a foursome of Beckles (54.0), Collier (54.7), Kamaria Brown (55.5) and Tiffany Singleton (54.7).
Duncan posted an overall winning time of 23.13 (0.2 wind) in the women's 200. Finishing third in the same heat with Duncan was Ekponé (23.52) while Flemings (23.76) placed fifth and Chandrell Stephens (23.90) was sixth. Stewart placed second in other heat with a time of 23.81.
Webb ran third in the men's 200 with a 20.52 (-1.1) as Auburn's Harry Adams, who caught a bit of a flyer at the start, won in 20.10 with Demetrius Pinder second in 20.23.
In the 100 Hardy, Jr. ran 10.31 (0.1 wind) as the second fastest collegian behind Adams (10.29). The two collegians were fourth and fifth best overall as Jamaica's Nickel Ashmeade won the 100 in 10.09 with Keston Bledman (10.12) second and Travis Padgett (10.29) third. Bryan won a third section of the 100 in 10.59 (-0.6 wind).
Casey Strong finished as runner-up in the hammer and came within four inches of his school record with a toss of 198-5 (60.49). Cole Knuth placed third with a 188-6 (57.47) that moves him to No. 3 on the Aggie all-time list.
Gregory Coleman won the 400 hurdles in a season best time of 51.91. In the 110 hurdles Wayne Davis II placed fourth in 13.86 (2.1 wind) behind Antwon Hicks (13.48), Richard Phillips (13.62) and Miami's Devon Hill (13.63). Kenneth Minkah won the B race in 14.84 (2.3 wind).
An early crosswind was not kind during the men's javelin as Sam Humphreys won with a 225-7 (68.76) effort while teammate Devin Bogert had his best mark of the season as runner-up with a 217-6 (66.30).
In the discus Dalton Rowan bettered the field with a 181-0 (55.16) throw over a 175-11 from Auburn's Stephen Saenz. A&M's Ben Skrla (166-9) placed fourth with Knuth (157-10) in fifth place. Rowan also placed third in the shot put with a 50-5.25 toss.
Haley Gooch won the triple jump with a windy 40-11 (12.47, 2.9 wind) mark while Dustin Phillips claimed the men's pole vault with a 16-4.75 clearance.
Sophie Blake lowered her career best in the 1500 by eight seconds as she pursued an early leader in the race and won with a 4:34.04. Blake was just a second off the No. 10 mark on the A&M all-time list.
Aliese Hyde won the 800 in 2:13.10 with teammate Jillian Anderson placing second in 2:15.00.
Nathan Parker was the top collegiate finisher in the men's 1500, and third overall, with a 3:54.04 while Colin Slattery placed fifth in 3:57.85. In the men's 800 a trio of Aggies placed 3-4-5 behind a pair of runners from Villanova. James Bonn led the A&M crew with a 1:51.47 as Young clocked 1:51.61 and Hernandez posted a 1:51.83.
