Texas State Head Coach Zenarae Antoine
Opening statement…
"I think anytime you have an opportunity to play against a team like Texas A&M it's exciting for your players. We have chance to go on the road and test ourselves and see where we are as a team. This game was pretty evident that we got tested in a lot of different ways. But what I appreciate about the game was the team was able to step up towards the end and show poise."
Texas A&M Guard Danni Williams
On playing in her first collegiate game…
"I came in nervous with a lot of adrenaline, but once I settled down I felt really good. My teammates helped. The seniors are really good at leading us."
On what she learned from her first game…
"Just settle down and don't rush; my first couple of shots were kind of rushed. On defense I was a little hesitant because I didn't know what to expect but now that I've been in there I know what I can and can't do."
Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair
Opening Statement…
"I loved the energy to start the ball game. A lot of our defensive traps worked. Coach Starkey has worked hard on helping us create more turnovers. Texas State played better in the second half. They shot the three ball extremely well in the second and that's on us. I was able to play 12 kids and a walk-on in the last two minutes; 12 kids in double-figure minutes is hard to do. Shlonte Allen played well in spots. Our inside game was strong tonight. As they game went on, Mitchell played really well. Jordan Jones did a good job of feeding the post players, where they didn't have to put it on the floor.Walker was Walker; Williams wasn't herself until the second half when she stopped taking hard shots and made it easier for herself. I was really pleased with the two freshmen. Danni Williams just loves the game and loves the moment. I've got a lot of options."
