DALLAS – The Texas A&M women's tennis team went a combined 20-7 in doubles and singles matches against Wichita State, Tulsa and Wyoming this past weekend at the SMU Blue and Red Challenge at the SMU Tennis Complex.
"We definitely had a very productive three days competing in the SMU Blue and Red Challenge," A&M coach Mark Weaver said. "Each of our six girls who competed on the trip were able to get three quality matches in both singles and doubles. I am delighted in the manner that we have progressed as a group over the course of the last few weeks and it showed in our play over the weekend. We have made great strides in our overall fitness and match toughness."
A&M opened the tournament narrowly falling to Wichita State on Friday, dropping two doubles matches and then winning three of six singles matches.
On Saturday, A&M won all three doubles matches against Tulsa and then won five of six singles matches against the Golden Hurricane. The Aggies wrapped up the tournament winning two of three doubles matches and taking all six singles matches against Wyoming on Sunday.
