
#5 Equestrian Falls 13-6 to #3 UGA

Bishop, GA- The No. 5 Texas A&M Equestrian team fell to No.3 Georgia 13-6 on Saturday, February 28th. The loss drops A&M to a 6-5 record and to 2-3 in SEC play.
Competition opened up with Equitation over Fences and the Bulldogs swept A&M, defeating the Aggies 5-0. Two A&M riders lost their individual contests by one point; freshman Alex Desiderio was defeated 80-79 and senior Leah Chenelle was edged 82-81.
The action got started in the Western arena with Horsemanship, which the Aggies lost 3-1. Senior Molli Jacobs scored the lone A&M point with a 68-62.5 performance. Sophomore Kaci Fisher's ride of 75.5 was matched by her competitor, resulting in a tie and the cancellation of the point.
Hunt seat finished the day with Equitation on the Flat, and Texas A&M took the victory by a score of 3-2. Junior Hannah Williams got things started for A&M with a 79 point-winning performance. Senior Haley Buchmiller took her point with an 82-72 victory. Junior Audrey Gallagher, a transfer from UGA, took MOP honors for the second time in 2015 with an 80-74 victory in familiar territory.
The event ended with the Reining competition, where the Bulldogs edged the Aggies 3-2. Senior Laura Sumrall and RS-sophomore Sarah Kate Grider won the two Aggie points, each scoring a 68 in their individual ride. Logan Pluhar lost by one point in her ride while freshman Jaci Marley was edged by half a point, 68-68.5.
Let's Hear a Hullabaloo…
…for ten victories. Senior Laura Sumrall notched her tenth win on Saturday for a team-leading win percent on the season. This is Sumrall's second-consecutive ten win season and today's victory gave her 29 career Reining wins. Gig 'em, Laura!

The Texas A&M Equestrian team will resume action on Saturday, March 16 as they take on No. 4 Auburn at the Hildebrand Equine Complex. The Aggies are currently undefeated against SEC opponents in their new home arena, defeating UGA 11-7 in November and just recently taking down No. 2 South Carolina 11-8.
