TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach G Guerrieri
On the night's scoring…
"Their goalkeeper did a heckuva job to keep it at four goals. I thought she was their player for the game. She saved three breakaways and other shots. I thought UC Irvine fought hard the whole night. Scott Juniper does a good job of having them organized. I took some really special goal for us to put it in."
On the game's speed…
"It was cool to see how our freshmen and sophomores have really adapted to the speed of play we want to play at. The cool thing is this is only the start or second year of their careers."
On the crowd…
"The fish camp game is always electric and they brought the energy for the full 90 minutes. We hope the freshmen enjoyed the experience and decide to keep coming back. The 12th Man and the Maroon Militia mean so much to these players."
Sophomore forward Haley Pounds…
On the pressing approach…
"I think our forwards did really well putting a lot of pressure on UCI right away. They like to play the ball over the top and we limited them from doing. It worked well for us. It shows that we're a pretty fit team. We kept pounding them and pressing them. They weren't able to play their game."
On Mikaela Harvey's opening goal…
That's Mikaela for you. She is amazing at dribbling and she was able to create that chance for herself. It really relaxed the game for us and we were able to take a deep breath and keep going again.
Sophomore midfielder Mikaela Harvey
On the night's student support…
"It's awesome because I know other schools don't get this many fans. It's awesome to have the 12th Man behind us during this game."
On the team's freshmen impact…
"They really came in confident and were ready to learn and jump in on the team. They meshed really well with us. They've been really coachable with open ears, so it's been really easy to fit them in with this team."
On Sunday's match-up against undefeated FAU…
"I'm excited to see how we match up knowing we have harder games up ahead. I'm excited to get the team going."
