
A&M Looks for Bounce Back in Sunday's Match at Georgia

DULUTH, Georgia – The No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies look to get back in the win column as they travel to Athens for Sunday's 1 pm match against the Georgia Bulldogs. The Maroon and White are coming off their first SEC loss of the season, a 2-1 defeat at No. 17 South Carolina on Thursday. The Aggies have never lost consecutive SEC contests and the last time A&M dropped back-to-back league games came in October of 2008.

Sunday's match is slated for national television on ESPNU. The contest is available digitally on mobile devices, tablets, PCs and connect-TVs for ESPNU subscribers whose cable/satellite packages allow access through the WatchESPN app and SECSports.com. LAST TIME OUT – SOUTH CAROLINA
The Aggies took the early lead against South Carolina, but the Maroon and White yielded late goals including the decisive goal in the 89th minute as A&M dropped a 2-1 decision. Ally Watt scored her first career goal in the 10th minute on an assist from Mikaela Harvey. The Aggies lead until South Carolina knotted the game in the 74th minute on a goal by Daisa Griffin. Reina Johnson netted the game-winner in the 89th minute getting her head on a cross from Sophie Groff five yards in front of goal.
SERIES VS. GEORGIA
The Aggies are 4-0-0 all-time against the Bulldogs with all of the matches coming since A&M joined the SEC in 2012.
The first three wins were narrow wins for the Aggies, all coming by one goal. The Maroon and White won a home match, in overtime, 1-0, in 2012, posted a 2-1 win in Athens in 2013 and winning a 2-1 decision in College Station last year. The Aggies won the last meeting 3-0 in last season's SEC Tournament first round. Bianca Brinson, Annie Kunz and Meghan Streight all scored for the Aggies in the win.
SCOUTING GEORGIA
The Bulldogs enter Sunday's match looking for a breakthrough win in SEC play. Georgia is spinning its wheels early on with a 1-7-1 overall mark and 0-3-0 record in league play. The Bulldogs suffered home losses at the hands of South Carolina (3-1) and Arkansas (2-1) and dropped a 4-3 decision at LSU. Georgia owns a 1-0 win at Samford and a 0-0 draw at High Point. The Bulldogs have non-conference losses against Wake Forest (4-0), Texas Tech (2-1), Oklahoma State (4-0) and Clemson (1-0).
First-year head coach Billy Lesesne was named Georgia's skipper in December after a 14-year stint as an assistant at Duke, including the last 11 years as Associate Head Coach, where he helped the 2011 squad advance to the College Cup.
The Bulldogs have just seven goals through nine matches, with three coming against LSU. Mariel Gutierrez leads the squad with five points on two goals and one assist. Bella Hartley has added two goals. Louise Hogrell has played all 830 minutes in goal, posting a 2.17 goals-against average, 38 saves and two shutouts.
Georgia has made nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including last season and five trips since 2007. The best finish came in 1998 when the Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet 16.
SUCCESSFUL SENIORS
Janae Cousineau, Kristi Leonard and Karlie Mueller represent one of the winningest active senior classes in the nation. The trio have enjoyed a record of 68-15-5 over their four years, the third-best win total in the nation. Florida State's seniors are 74-8-5, followed by Virginia 71-10-4.
RETURNING OFFENSE
The Aggies return just seven of 71 goals (9.9 percent) from last season. Janae Cousineau accounts for six of the returning goals and Haley Pounds notched one goal in 2014. A&M returns 14 of 60 assists from 2014. Karlie Mueller had the highest total among the returnees with five. Cousineau, Pounds, McKayla Paulson and Mikaela Harvey each notched two assists in 2014. Cousineau's 14 points last season is the most among the returnees.
Texas A&M's 11 returnees combined for just seven goals and 14 assists (28 points) during the 2014 campaign. Through 11 games, the same 11 returnees have already notched 18 goals and 13 assists (49 points).
