BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team bolstered its backline with the addition prep standout Ava Sexton for the 2026 campaign, head coach Bobby Shuttleworth announced Tuesday.
"We are so excited to add Ava to the Texas A&M soccer family," Shuttleworth said. "She is a top player who consistently performs at a high level and raises the standard of play around her. She is constantly looking for ways to improve her game and push herself to new levels. Beyond the field, her positive energy and academic excellence make her a perfect fit for our program."
Originally slated to be a part of next fall's signing class for the 2027 campaign, Sexton reclassified to join the Aggies this summer.
Sexton recently earned an invitation to an upcoming US Soccer Youth National Team ID Center. She claimed ECNL Texas All-Conference First Team recognition in 2025 and appeared at the ECNL National Selection Game in Phoenix in 2024.
Playing for Sting Soccer Club for four years, Sexton is in her third season serving as captain for the Sting Royal ECNL squad under the tutelage of Coach Ben Williams. The first two years they combined to go 41-5-6 and advanced to the round of 16 of the national playoffs in 2025.
She has also clubbed with CESA (2013-19), DKSC (2019-20) and FC Dallas (2020-22).
Sexton is a three-year letter winner at Southlake Carroll High School for Coach Matt Colvin. Midway through her third year the Dragons are a combined 54-3-4 during her career, including 10-0-1 this season.
As a freshman she earned All-District 4-6A Honorable Mention as Southlake Carroll went 24-1-1 earning a spot in the Texas Class 6A quarterfinals. Last year, she was named All-District 4-6A First Team helping the Dragons to a 20-2-2 mark and regional semifinal appearance.
Also a standout in the classroom, Sexton earned Academic All-District 4-6A the last two seasons.
