Texas A&M takes on Stephen F. Austin, a program that has five NCAA Sweet 16 appearances, in a women's basketball game at Reed Arena on Sunday. The Aggies are looking for their fourth straight 3-0 start to a season.
The game is broadcast on SEC Network Plus, with Mike Wright and Tap Bentz on the call. Authenticated subscribers can access the game exclusively on WatchESPN and the ESPN app through their computers, smartphones, tablets and smart TVs. Tom Turbiville and Bret Dark bring the game to listeners on KZNE 1150 AM and on 12thMan.com.
Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair is facing the school where he got his head coaching start. Blair went 210-43 as coach of the Ladyjacks from 1985-93, winning seven conference championships, six conference tournament championships, and reaching the NCAA Sweet 16 four times. Blair's first collegiate game came in College Station, where Lynn Hickey's Aggies defeated Blair's Ladyjacks 83-59.
The Aggies are coming off of a thrilling 98-90 overtime win over former conference foe Texas Tech in a game that featured 22 lead changes and eight ties. Sophomore Danni Williams has been a breakout star so far for the Aggies, averaging 28.5 points per game, which ranks fourth in the nation. Senior Curtyce Knox has 10+ assists in both games this season, and has a nation-leading 10.50 assist-to-turnover ratio.
SFA is 1-1 on the season after handling Oklahoma Panhandle State 77-43 on Wednesday. The Ladyjacks went 18-12 in 2015-16.
After this game, the Aggies head to Little Rock for a rematch of a 2015 NCAA Tournament game on Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Aggies return to Reed Arena on Nov. 26 to host Abilene Christian at 6 p.m.
