Fabrizio Wins Rain-Shortened Trinity Forest Invitational
Nov 08, 2016 | Women's Golf
DALLAS- Bianca Fabrizio posted her third career individual tournament win, as the Trinity Forest Invitational presented by Vic Salvino was cut short by rain, awarding the individual championship to Fabrizio after 18 holes. The Aggies finished second as a team for the second consecutive tournament.
Fabrizio shot a 1-under 71 in the tournament's first and only round, as Fabrizio was the only golfer in the 75-person field to shoot par-or-better. She finished two strokes ahead of second-place Lindsey McCurdy of SMU.
Fabrizio becomes the seventh Aggie with at least three individual tournament wins. This is Fabrizio's first win since she won the 2015 SEC Championship.
As a team, the Aggies shot a 17-over 305, and finished just one stroke behind tournament champion Michigan.
The par 72 / 6,236 yard course was deemed unplayable after overnight rains in the Dallas area, forcing tournament organizers to call off the final round Tuesday morning.
Courtney Dow finished in a tie for 13th after shooting a 4-over 76, highlighted by an eagle on Hole No. 12. Maddie Szeryk had an eagle of her own, on No. 14, and tied for 30th with a 6-over 78. Thanya Pattamakijsakul tied for 38th with an 8-over 80 and Chloe Velasco, who made her first career appearance in the Texas A&M lineup, shot an 11-over 83 and to tie for 61st.
The Aggies have concluded their fall season, and begin their spring at the Florida State Match-Up, which runs from Feb. 10-12.
