Texas A&M women's basketball heads to Houston's Campbell Center to take on Southern in a neutral site non-conference game on Saturday, December 17 at 2:30 p.m. Three players on the Texas A&M roster are from the Houston area.
The game is available only as a radio broadcast, with Tom Turbiville and Bret Dark bringing listeners the action on KZNE 1150 AM/102.7 FM in the Bryan-College Station area, or on 12thMan.com.
Tickets for this game can be ordered in advance through the Texas A&M 12th Man Foundation ticket office, or for $5 (cash only) at the door for this game. All seating is general admission.
"We are excited to be able to play a game in Houston, which not only is a great city for girl's and women's basketball, but is also home to many Aggie fans," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair, back in October when this game was announced. "Over the years, many Houston-area players have decided to play at Texas A&M, including three on our current roster. We are thrilled to be able to play a game in their backyard."
In addition to current student-athletes Curtyce Knox, Caylinne Martin and Jasmine Williams, former Texas A&M stars such as Kelsey Bone, Sydney Colson, Adora Elonu, La Toya Micheaux, Patrice Reado, Takia Starks and Courtney Williams played their high school basketball in the Houston-area.
Knox, the nation's leader in assists, hails from nearby Humble, and looks to lead the Aggies to their third straight win in this game. Over the past two seasons, the Aggies are 10-2 when Knox starts at point guard.
Southern is 2-4 on the season, after reaching the WNIT in 2016. Briana Green leads the Jaguars with 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
After this game, the Aggies head to the Florida Sunshine Classic in Winter Park, Fla., just outside of Orlando, to take on Dayton and 2016 NCAA Runner-Up Syracuse on Dec. 20 & 21.
