No. 23 Aggies blank Sam Houston State, 8-0

COLLEGE STATION - A balanced offensive attack coupled with freshman Samantha Show's complete game one-hitter led the No. 23 Texas A&M softball team past Sam Houston State, 8-0, in five innings Wednesday at the Aggie Softball Complex.
"I really expected our team to come out there and take charge early," head coach Jo Evans said. "It is nice to have a run-rule game on a midweek when we are trying to get ready to go on a trip. I was excited to see our focus. You never want to take a team lightly, and it was nice to see us get after it."
Show, who only threw 48 pitches, struck out three en route to her third win of the season and only faced one hitter over the minimum.
The Aggies (5-1) tacked on five runs, all with two outs, in the second inning to gain the early advantage. Freshman Riley Sartain started the rally, reaching on a fielder's choice before stealing second and advancing to third on an illegal pitch. With runners on the corners, sophomore Erica Russell drew a walk to load the bases, before freshman Keeli Milligan singled to right to drive in Sartain.
Freshman Kaitlyn Alderink reached on an infield single and advanced to third on a throwing error by Sam Houston State pitcher Brooke Seneshen, allowing all three base runners to score. Sophomore Tori Vidales capped off the inning with a double to center, plating Alderink.
In the bottom of the fifth, A&M quickly loaded the bases with no outs, forcing the Bearkats to go to the bullpen. Show walked to score the first run of the inning before senior Regan Boenker singled to drive in sophomore Kristen Cuyos. With two outs, sophomore Hailey Rebar roped a walk-off single up the middle to score Sartain.
The Aggies return to action Friday at the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. A&M will open with Central Michigan (12 p.m. CT) and No. 16 UCF (2:30 p.m. CT) and will also face UCSB, No. 9 Washington, No. 10 Arizona and New Mexico.
