No. 10 Texas A&M hosts doubleheader against Georgia Southern
Mar 14, 2016 | Softball
COLLEGE STATION – The No. 10 Texas A&M softball team will host a doubleheader Tuesday against Georgia Southern at the Aggie Softball Complex. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., while game two is slated for 4 p.m.
"Doubleheaders aren't ever easy, especially against a team like Georgia Southern," head coach Jo Evans said. "It will be good to get these games in before we start conference play. Georgia Southern is scrappy. They're a good ball club. They are known for upsetting ranked teams, so it will be good challenge for us and get us locked in for what we need to do the rest of the week."
The Aggies (23-2) are coming off a weekend sweep over Texas Tech, defeating the Red Raiders, 9-5, 7-6 and 17-3. Sophomore Kristen Cuyos paces A&M's potent offense with her SEC-leading 10 home runs, while freshman Keeli Milligan leads the NCAA in stolen bases with 30. In the circle, Samantha Show is 13-2 with a 2.53 ERA and 83 strikeouts. Sophomore Trinity Harrington is 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA and senior Katie Marks is 6-0 with a 0.95 ERA.
Georgia Southern is 14-8 on the season and went 2-1 last weekend at Texas State. Emily Snider leads the Eagles with a .300 average with eight doubles, two home runs and 13 RBI. As a team, Georgia Southern is 27-for-29 on stolen bases attempts and is hitting .274. Dixie Raley is 9-4 in the circle with a team-leading 2.97 ERA and 78 strikeouts.
Both games can be seen on the SEC Network +, available through WatchESPN and the ESPN app and can be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM or online at www.RadioAggieland.com.
