Aggie Men’s Tennis Waltzes Past Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 10 Texas A&M picked up a 5-2 win at Tennessee to close out their regular season road schedule inside Knoxville's Barksdale Stadium Sunday afternoon. The Aggies (23-8, 7-4) close out the regular season for Senior Day on Friday against Abilene Christian.
Sophomore Arthur Rinderknech clinched the match for Texas A&M over the Vols (11-14, 0-10) with his team-high 11th win over a ranked opponent. The Frenchman topped No. 109 Luis Valero 6-3, 6-1 on court one to secure the match.
The maroon and white captured the doubles point to open the scoring for seventh straight match and 24th overall. Rinderknech and his doubles partner, Max Lunkin, were the first double team off the court, topping Srdjan Jakovljevic and Timo Stodder 6-1 on doubles court three. Seniors Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant defeated Jack Heslin and Preston Touliatos , 6-3, on the second court to clinch the point for A&M.
The Aggies took an early 2-0 advantage as Touliatos was unable to continue his match on court five, Adams claimed the victory via retirement. Freshman Aleksandre Bakshi pushed A&M's advantage to 3-0, defeating Heslin 6-3, 6-3 on court six. Moments later Rinderknech picked up point number four for the visitors.
After the team match was secured, Tennessee was able to pick up a pair of points through wins from Stodder over No. 44 Vinsant and Jakovljevic over No. 125 Jordi Arconada. A&M's final point on the day came from sophomore AJ Catanzariti. The Pittsburgh native topped Jack Schipanski 6-4, 6-2 on court four.
