Texas A&M to Host Abilene Christian and LSU on Senior Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 10 Texas A&M men's tennis team closes out its regular season against Abilene Christian and LSU Friday afternoon at George P Mitchell Tennis Center. The Aggies (23-8, 7-4) are jockeying for SEC Tournament seeding with No. 12 Arkansas (19-5, 7-3), No. 23 Mississippi State (15-6, 7-4) and No. 20 Kentucky (17-7, 6-4) behind No. 6 Georgia (16-3, 10-0) and No. 13 Florida (13-6, 8-2). A&M will take on the Wildcats at noon followed by a 6 p.m. match-up against LSU.
With Friday's matches concluding A&M's regular season, Head Coach Steve Denton and the rest of the Aggie tennis family will honor a trio of former All-Americans that have won more nearly 500 matches. Harrison Adams has compiled 66 singles victories along with 80 doubles wins, Adams and Shane Vinsant finished their junior campaign ranked No. 10 in the doubles poll earning them All-American honors. Vinsant is nearing 100 wins in both singles (97) and doubles (96) wearing the maroon and white, in addition to his All-American recognition he has been named to the All-SEC team as a sophomore and junior. Jackson Withrow earned All-American honors as a sophomore and junior after claiming a Top-8 National Seed at the NCAA Doubles Championship. Withrow has tallied 66 singles wins along with 80 doubles victories, the Omaha native and former A&M All-American Junior Ore were one of just three A&M doubles teams to be ranked No. 1 by the ITA.
The maroon and white return to action after claiming a 5-2 decision over Tennessee Sunday afternoon in Knoxville. A&M took the doubles point to open the match for the seventh straight match, and 24th time overall, behind victories from Arthur Rinderknech and Max Lunkin along with Harrison Adams and Shane Vinsant. In addition to the doubles point, the Aggies found points from Rinderknech, Adams, AJ Catanzariti and Aleksandre Bakshi.
The Aggies will feature a [air of ranked singles players against the Vols, led by No. 16 Rinderknech. The Paris, France native has been ranked in the top-25 all spring after turning in an impressive fall campaign. The right-hander leads A&M with a 24-11 record this season, including a team-high 10 wins over ranked players.
Vinsant moved to No. 52 in the latest ITA poll, the Keller native has an impressive 14-9 dual record, going 12-7 on court two and 2-1 on the top court. The senior is 6-4 in his last 10 matches and has eight wins over ranked opponents this year.
In doubles action, Rinderknech and Withrow lead the charge with a 12-5 record, going 8-5 on the top court and 4-0 on court two. The pair are an impressive 5-5 against ranked teams, pushing them into the Top-25 in this week's poll at No. 19. Rinderknech ranks No. 49 alongside Vinsant, despite the fact that the two have not featured since the calendar turned to 2016. Vinsant and Catanzariti moved into the latest poll at No. 52, the pair are 4-0 this spring and 1-0 against ranked duos. Arconada partners with junior Max Lunkin to rank No. 63 this week, the pair are 9-3 this season, including a 6-2 mark in duals and a 1-1 mark against ranked pairs.
It will be a full day of tennis at the Mitchell Tennis Center, as the Aggie women also play host to No. 18 LSU at 2:30 p.m. as part of a tennis triple header. Either a men's ticket or women's ticket is valid for admission to all three matches. In addition, Texas A&M students get in free by showing their student I.D.
