Aggies Travel to Take on Wildcats

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 10 Texas A&M men's tennis team travels to Lexington, Kentucky to face No. 20 Kentucky (16-6, 5-3) Friday at 4 p.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. The Aggies (22-7, 6-3) look to keep pace with No. 16 Arkansas (18-5, 6-3) in the SEC standings behind No. 7 Georgia (14-3, 8-0) and No. 14 Florida (12-5, 7-1).
The maroon and white return to action after sweeping a double header Sunday afternoon in Aggieland. A&M topped South Carolina and Texas-Arlington after strong performances from AJ Catanzariti and Jackson Withrow. Catanzariti clinched both matches, defeating Thomas Mayronne 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 of South Carolina and Daniel Armengol 6-4, 7-6(3) of UTA.
Against South Carolina, Withrow topped Alex Fennell, 7-6(2), 6-4 on court four after partnering with freshman Aleksandre Bakshi in a win over Gabriel Friedrich and Harrison O'Keefe. Withrow and Bakshi were victorious for a second time Sunday, topping Armengol and Jhonthan Gonzalez of Texas-Arlington in the day's second match.
The Aggies will feature a trio of ranked singles players against the Bulldogs, led by No. 21 Arthur Rinderknech. The Paris, France native has been ranked in the top-25 all spring after turning in an impressive fall campaign. The right-hander leads A&M with a 22-11 record this season, including a team-high nine wins over ranked players.
Vinsant moved to No. 44 in the latest ITA poll, the Keller native has an impressive 14-7 dual record, going 12-5 on court two and 2-1 on the top court. The senior is 7-3 in his last 10 matches and has eight wins over ranked opponents this year. Sophomore Jordi Arconada rounds out A&M's ranked contingent at No. 125. The Buenos Aires native is third on the squad in wins this season at 19, with a 12-9 ledger in dual matches. The righty has six wins in A&M's last 10 matches, holding a 10-7 record on court three.
In doubles action, Rinderknech and Withrow lead the charge with a 12-5 record, going 8-5 on the top court and 4-0 on court two. The pair are an impressive 5-5 against ranked teams, pushing them into the Top-25 in this week's poll at No. 23. Rinderknech ranks No. 48 alongside Vinsant, despite the fact that the two have not featured since the calendar turned to 2016. Vinsant and senior Harrison Adams moved into the latest poll at No. 52, the pair are 2-1 against ranked pairs this spring. Arconada partners with junior Max Lunkin to rank No. 78 this week, the pair are 9-3 this season, including a 6-2 mark in duals and a 1-1 mark against ranked pairs.
Kentucky enters Friday's match with two ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team. The ranked Wildcat singles players are No. 25 William Bushamuka and No. 52 Ryotaro Matsamura and their ranked doubles teams is No. 55 Bushamuka and Beck Pennington.
