Aug 27, 2016 | Soccer
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Sunday night at Ellis Field for Maroon Militia Madness. Match time is 6 pm.
The Aggies will celebrate Maroon Militia Madness as fans are encouraged to engage with the 12th Man of Ellis Field. The first 250 students will receive Maroon Militia bandannas.
Texas A&M is 1-2-0 on the season with a pair of hard-fought 1-0 losses to No. 1 Florida State and No. 15 UCLA sandwiched around a 4-1 triumph over Rice.
On Sunday evening, head coach G Guerrieri will face his alma mater, Tulsa University. Guerrieri was a four-year standout goalkeeper at TU. He still owns the Golden Hurricane career records for saves (283) and shutouts (21). Other school records he still boasts are consecutive shutouts (3), single-game saves (17) and single-season shutouts (9). He earned All-Midwest Region recognition on two occasions.
Haley Pounds highlighted the Texas A&M offense last week, registering her second career hat trick and logging a career-high seven points in last Sunday's win against Rice.
Tulsa is 1-1-1 on the season, fresh off a 2-1 road victory over Central Arkansas on Friday. This marks the third match against a ranked opponent for the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa opened the season with a 1-1 tie against No. 25 Loyola Marymount and then dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 24 South Carolina. Both matches were played as part of the Sooner Classic in Norman, Oklahoma.
