Jan 04, 2017 | Track and Field
COLLEGE STATION – The eighth annual Texas A&M High School Classic takes place this Friday and Saturday, January 6-7, at the Gilliam Indoor Track and Field Stadium as over 1,850 athletes compete in one of the largest high school indoor meets.
"Each year, at this time, this meet brings together about 1,800 high school track and field athletes," said Texas A&M head coach Pat Henry. "This is a meet that has continued to grow over the years, attracting some of best athletes from Texas as well as from around the country. This weekend also serves as the beginning of the indoor track and field season for most athletes."
Events hosted by Texas A&M now have a clear bag policy, in which any bag fans bring to the venue must be clear. More information is available here: http://12thman.com/sports/2016/6/6/clear-bag-policy.aspx. Only athletes and coaches who have a wrist band for the meet can enter the complex through the indoor football facility without the restriction of the clear bag policy.
Friday's schedule begins at 5 p.m. with sprint prelims while field events start at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the morning session is slated for 9:30 a.m. with finals in the 2 Mile as field events begin at 10:30 a.m. The afternoon session gets underway at 3 p.m.
Ticket windows will open at 1 p.m. on Friday and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the front of the McFerrin Athletic Center. All session tickets are $10 for general admission and $20 for reserved seats.
