No. 1 Texas A&M Travels to No. 2 Georgia, Delaware State
Oct 12, 2017 | Equestrian
COLLEGE STATION – The No. 1 Texas A&M equestrian team hits the road to face No. 2 Georgia at the UGA Equestrian Center in Bishop, Ga., on Friday and Delaware State at the Dovington Training Center in Dover, Del., on Saturday. Both meets are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
"We are excited to have two tough road meets after having last weekend off," head coach Tana McKay said. "Georgia is always a tough team, especially in Athens, so we know we have our work cut out for us. We haven't been to Delaware State since 2015 so we will be seeing some unfamiliar horses, but we have had some good practices the last two weeks. I am excited to see us go out there and compete."
The Aggies (3-0, 1-0 SEC) are coming off a 12-8 victory over No. 7 South Carolina on Sept. 29. The Maroon & White were led by Rebekah Chenelle and Avery Ellis, who earned NCEA and SEC Rider of the Month honors.
Friday's meet is a rematch of last year's NCEA Championship meet in which the Aggies topped the Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0 SEC), 11-5. First-year Hunt Seat coach Abby O'Mara competed for the Bulldogs from 2011-14 and earned two NCEA All-America honors and two All-SEC selections in Equitation over Fences.
Last season, the Aggies faced the Hornets (0-2, 0-1 UEC) twice going 2-0 with an 18-2 victory on November 10 and a 13-2 win in the first round of the NCEA Championship.
Live scoring for Friday's meet can be found on www.GeorgiaDogs.com, and Saturday's can be found at www.12thMan.com.
