Women's Golf Heads To San Antonio For Maryb S. Kauth Invitational
Oct 21, 2017 | Women's Golf
Texas A&M's women's golf team tees off Sunday in the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational, hosted by UTSA at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. The Aggies have shot under-par at Briggs Ranch in five of the last six tournaments they have played on the course.
The Aggies tee off in the 54-hole, 14-team event starting at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, with Maddie Szeryk, Courtney Dow, Chloe Velasco, Morgan Lay and Amber Park making up the Texas A&M lineup. Elizabeth Caldarelli also competes in the event as an individual.
The par 72 / 6,450 yard course at Briggs Ranch has been kind to the Aggies in recent years, tallying eight top 5 finishes in nine tournaments since 2009-10, including advancing through the 2015 NCAA San Antonio Regional at the same course. The Aggies have produced the best 18-hole team score in school history, the best 36-hole team score in school history and three of the four best 54-hole team scores in school history at Briggs Ranch.
This tournament is the first competition for the Aggies in nearly a month, having last competed at the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 23-25. Szeryk, the two-time All-American, leads the Aggies with a 69.89 stroke average, which ranks ninth in the nation. Dow ranks second on the squad with a 71.44, and Park ranks third with a 72.00 average.
Live Scoring for the event, which runs through Tuesday, is available through birdiefire.com. Admission to the event is free.
