
No. 7 Texas A&M Hosts Prairie View A&M Wednesday

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 7 Texas A&M Softball team welcomes Prairie View A&M to the Aggie Softball Complex for a 6:30 p.m. contest Wednesday night.
The Aggies enter the midweek showdown with a 25-2 (5-1 SEC) record. Riley Sartain leads the team with a .443 average, while Kristen Cuyos has a team-high six home runs and is tied for the team lead in RBI with Ashley Walters at 21. The Aggies hold the SEC's second-best team ERA at 1.16, led by Samantha Show (10-1, 0.79 ERA) and Trinity Harrington (6-1, 0.85). Lexi Smith holds an 8-0 record and a 1.24 ERA.
The Maroon and White capped off a perfect Spring Break week, sweeping No. 22 Ole Miss in Oxford. Kaitlyn Alderink and Sartain hit .500 for the series as Sartain drove in four with a home run and a double. Kristen Cuyos belted the team's first grand slam of the season in the Aggies' 8-0 win on Saturday. Harrington, Show and Smith all went 1-0 on the weekend, while Harrington notched her first save. Smith struck out a season high 14 in Sunday's 3-1 victory.
Prairie View A&M is currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak and is 8-16 (3-0 SWAC) on the year. The Lady Panthers began conference with a three-game sweep over Jackson State, before defeating Jarvis Christian College Monday in a doubleheader. Laurisa Hernandez powers the Lady Panther lineup with a .350 average, two home runs and 11 RBI. Kylar Ward-Flowers and Kelsey Coronado have each added two dingers. In the circle, Ashley Higgins is 5-8 with a 5.69 ERA and 21 strikeouts, while Taylor Drury is 3-7 with an 8.23 ERA.
Texas A&M holds a 3-0 advantage over Prairie View A&M in the series history. The two teams last met in 2009 in which the Aggies won 11-1 in Houston.
