Dec 18, 2018 | Women's Basketball
COLLEGE STATION- No. 23 Texas A&M looks for its fifth consecutive win, as the Aggies host Southern California in a women's basketball game at 5 p.m. Wednesday inside Reed Arena. The first 500 fans through the north and south entrances receive A&M Ugly Sweater T-Shirts, and tickets start at $5 for adults and $3 for youth as Holiday Hoops continues.
Mike Wright and Tap Bentz call the game on SEC Network +, which provides events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One). The game airs on local radio on The Zone 1150 AM / 102.7 FM, with Tom Turbiville and Bret Dark on the call.
The Aggies (8-2) are coming off of a 76-70 win over then-No. 8 Oregon State, clinching the Maui Jim Maui Classic Tournament championship. Chennedy Carter, who became the quickest Texas A&M player to reach 1,000 career points, was named Tournament MVP and SEC Player of the Week, scoring 27 points. N'dea Jones earned a spot on the all-tournament team, averaging 15.0 rebounds in the event.
USC (8-0) is unbeaten on the season and ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll entering the game. Minyon Moore leads the Women of Troy with 15.9 points per game, and is joined in double figures by Aliyah Mazyck (14.4) and Mariya Moore (12.6).
The series between USC and Texas A&M is tied at three games apiece, with three of the last four games in being decided by four-or-fewer points. Last season, Carter set a school-record with 46 points, including the game-winning shot with 10.9 seconds to play, to give Texas A&M a 75-74 victory in Los Angeles. In 2011, Sydney Carter hit a 3-pointer with 10.0 remaining to earn a 71-70 victory in College Station. Sadie Edwards hit the go-ahead shot with 40 to play for the Trojans in their 66-62 win at Reed Arena in 2016.
Fans are advised that parking costs $5 for all doubleheader gamedays but a men's basketball season parking pass allows entry to the parking lots for all games. Fans are encouraged to stay for the men's game against Valparaiso, using their women's basketball ticket as a general admission seat to the second game.
