COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women's tennis team begins a six-match homestand when the Aggies play host to Missouri in a rare-Thursday afternoon Southeastern Conference match at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. First serve is at 3 p.m.
General admission is free.
"After a tough road trip we are no doubt happy to be back on our home courts to face Missouri and start off a six-match home stand," Aggie head coach Mark Weaver said.
A&M, coming off a tough stretch in which the Aggies suffered back-to-back 4-0 road losses at No. 11 South Carolina and No. 22 Florida last weekend, is 10-4, including 1-3 in SEC matches. All four SEC matches have been against Top 25 opponents, with the Aggies beginning conference play with a 4-1 home victory against No. 17 Tennessee on March 2.
Missouri (11-6, 0-3 SEC) is coming off a 4-0 loss against No. 17 Kentucky on Sunday to conclude the Tigers' 10-match homestand. Like A&M, Missouri will be aiming to end a three-match losing skid.
A&M owns a 23-2 lead in the all-time series against Missouri, including a 10-0 record in matches played in College Station. The Tigers, however, upended then-No. 17 A&M last year, 4-3, at Mizzou Tennis Center's four-court indoor facility to snap a 15-match losing streak against the Aggies and record the program's first ever victory against a ranked opponent.
The Aggies are led by senior and 111th-ranked Domenica Gonzalez, who is 11-1 in singles, all at the No. 1 line. Freshman Riley McQuaid is 10-1, having seen action at the No. 4 line, where she is 6-0, as well as the No. 5 court, and senior Macarena Olivares is 11-3 in dual matches, all at No. 2.
No. 42 A&M continues its homestand on Saturday as the Aggies play host to No. 33 Arkansas. First serve is at 12 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center. It also is a Legacy Day reunion, with many former players in attendance.
