COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women's tennis team will welcome back many of its former players for a Legacy Reunion match when the Aggies play host to Arkansas on Saturday. First serve against the Razorbacks is at 12 p.m. at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
General admission is free.
"We will no doubt have another battle with Arkansas just as we always do," A&M head coach Mark Weaver said. "We have made a good bounce back since our road trip in the way we competed against Missouri on Thursday, and it will be nice to have some familiar faces in the crowd as we will acknowledge some of our former players who will be attending the match."
A&M (11-4, 2-3 SEC) is coming off a 4-0 shutout over Missouri on Thursday to begin a six-match homestand. Arkansas (5-8, 1-3 SEC) will be aiming to end a three match losing skid after letting a 2-0 lead slip away in a 4-2 loss at LSU on Thursday.
The 42nd-ranked Aggies are led by senior and 111th-ranked Domenica Gonzalez, who is 12-1 in singles, all at the No. 1 line. Freshman Riley McQuaid is 10-1, having seen action at the No. 4 line, where she is 6-0, as well as the No. 5 court, and senior Macarena Olivares is 11-3 in dual matches, all at No. 2.
Arkansas has two players listed in the national singles rankings: No. 66 Giulia Pairone and No. 87 Ana Oparenovic. The Razorbacks have four different combinations of doubles teams ranked, including Oparenovic and Tatum Rice, who come in at a team-leading No. 30.
A&M owns an 11-8 lead in the all-time series, which began in 1982. In addition, the Aggies are 7-1 against the Razorbacks in matches played in College Station. Arkansas, however, has won the last two meetings, a 6-1 decision last year in Fayetteville and a narrow 4-3 victory in 2016 in the Razorbacks' most recent trip to College Station.
