SUNSET, S.C. –Texas A&M's women's golf team heads to the Clemson Invitational for their final tune-up prior to the SEC Championship, with a three-day, 54-hole tournament that begins Sunday.
The tournament takes place on the par 72 / 6,260-yard Reserve at Lake Keowee, a Nicklaus-designed course that features sloping terrain and a dramatic lakefront finish.
The 18-team field includes five ranked opponents—No. 5 Florida State, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 14 Auburn, No. 17 Virginia and No. 18 Michigan State. Augusta, Clemson, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Tulane, UNCW and Virginia Tech round out the field.
The Aggies enter the event with eight par-or-better rounds on the season, the third-most in school history. Katie Finley leads the Texas A&M lineup, having posted the second top-25 finish of her career in the Aggies' last event, The Bruzzy.
Ava Schwienteck enters the event having finished in the top half of the field in each of her last four tournaments, including two top-25 finishes and a ninth-place finish at the MountainView Collegiate (Mar. 22-25). Amber Park brings a team-leading 73.42 stroke average to the event.
Courtney Dow returns to action looking for her second victory of the season, having captured the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational (Mar. 12-13). Brooke Tyree rounds out the Aggie lineup, holding a 75.08 stroke average—the sixth-best for a freshman in program history.
