No. 7 Texas A&M Falls to No. 11 TCU
Feb 16, 2020 | Men's Tennis
MADISON, Wisc. – The No. 7 Texas A&M men's tennis team (5-3) dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 11 TCU (5-4) to wrap up play at the 2020 ITA Indoor Team Championships on Sunday.
"We came out with great energy in the doubles but then we lost our serve on a couple courts and the air came out of the balloon a little bit," Texas A&M head coach Steve Denton said. "We weren't ever really able to get that momentum back and that was the disappointing part for me. We didn't handle adversity today like we needed to. They pushed us back after we got ahead early and we did not respond. These are the growing pains we have this season with a new team, we have to learn how to handle the ups and downs of a tennis match. TCU played very well today, but our guys have to learn to resist more and put things behind them faster. We did not do that today and it cost us."
TCU earned the doubles point to open the match through wins on courts two and three. In singles action, the Horned Frogs claimed first sets on five courts but the Aggies were able to force third sets on a couple. TCU earned points on courts two, four and six to secure the win.
The Aggies are back in action Friday at 6 p.m. at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas against Rice.
