No. 2 Equestrian Opens Spring Slate Against No. 4 Baylor

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 2 Texas A&M equestrian team hosts the No. 4 Baylor Bears in its spring home opener Saturday at 11 am at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
Fall Recap
The Aggies finished its fall slate 6-1 and 3-0 in Southeastern Conference action. Most notably, A&M defeated Georgia (13-6) and Auburn (10-6) at home when both opponents were No. 2 in the nation.
The Maroon & White is 5-1 in Western and 4-2-1 in Hunt Seat. The Aggies have won nine points in Fences the last two meets and swept Auburn in Reining with a 3-0 win.
Notable riders in Horsemanship include MacKenzie Chapman who holds a perfect 6-0 record including one Most Outstanding Performer honor, as well as Hanna Olaussen with a 4-1-1 record and Ella Petak with a 4-1 record.
In Reining, Malena Lopez leads the team with a 4-1-1 record, including a 2-0-1 record in her last three rides. Lisa Bricker (3-2-1), Emmy-Lu Marsh (3-3) and Taylor Masson (3-2-1) have each earned MOP honors this season.
In Fences, Devon Thomas is riding a six-meet unbeaten streak with an overall 5-1-1 record in Fences, including two MOP honors in back-to-back weeks on Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. Haley Redifer is 5-2 on the season, including an MOP. Kaitlyn Lovingfoss ended the fall on a high note, winning her last two outings and earned MOP honors in each appearance.
Caroline Dance leads the Aggies in Flat with a 5-2 record while securing two MOPs in her last three outings. Nicole Leonard has added four wins, as Lovingfoss has registered three. Rhian Murphy has two wins on the year with an MOP.
Series
The Aggies and Bears last met in Waco on Oct. 15 which resulted in a 12-7 loss for the Maroon & White. Saturday's match-up is the 29th all-time meeting with Texas A&M leading the series, 19-9. The Aggies have won five of their last six meetings with the Bears.
