BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team added firepower to the roster with the addition of Shae O'Rourke, a transfer who played two seasons at South Carolina, head coach G Guerrieri announced Wednesday.
"Shae is a proven goal scorer at the national level," Guerrieri said. "She has already shown how athletic she is by scoring on and dominating other SEC defenses the past two years at South Carolina. The 12th Man is going to enjoy watching her play in Aggieland."
During her two seasons with the Gamecocks, O'Rourke earned 45 caps, including 25 starts. She logged 28 points with 11 goals and six assists.
"Shae is an intelligent striker with the separation speed to break games open," Guerrieri said. "She possesses the strength to hold off defenders and bring teammates into the attack. Our players are all excited to have Shae in our lineup, especially knowing that she has two years of eligibility remaining."
As a freshman in 2022, O'Rourke played in all 24 matches, including four starts. She ranked second on the Gamecocks in points (15) and goals (6), adding three assists. She earned SEC All-Freshman Team recognition, along with being tapped at No. 76 on the TopDrawerSoccer.com list of Top 100 Freshmen.
Last season, the Wheatfield, New York, product stated all 21 matches for South Carolina. She once again ranked second on the team in points with 13 on five goals and three assists.
O'Rourke prepped at St. Mary's High School where she was named the 2020-21 Gatorade New York Girls Soccer Player of the Year after amassing 39 goals and eight assists. She also earned recognition as USA Today New York State Female Athlete of the Year and USA Today New York State Soccer Player of the Year. O'Rourke accounted for an eye-popping 135 goals and 43 assists during her high school career.
On the national scene, O'Rourke earned a spot at the US Soccer U18 Virtual Camp in 2021 as well as earning invitations to the US Soccer Training Center three consecutive years. She clubbed with Western New York Flash.
