BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team bolstered its midfield with the addition of transfer Leah Pirro, a three-time all-conference performer, head coach G Guerrieri announced Thursday.
"Leah has been the most creative and one of the most dangerous players in the WAC the last couple years," Guerrieri said. "We are excited to add her to the Aggie family."
Most recently, Pirro earned United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region Second Team and All-Western Athletic Conference First Team for her performance at Grand Canyon in 2023. She ranked ninth in the nation with 13 assists on the season and added two goals in 23 matches. She helped the Lopes to a 14-5-4 record, WAC tournament title and a bid to the NCAA Championship.
In 2022, Pirro played in 20 games at GCU with 19 starts. She notched 13 points on four goals and five assists to earn All-WAC Second Team.
"Leah, who is an All-WAC First Team and all-region caliber central midfielder, is well versed in playing the kind of sophisticated style we pride ourselves on at Texas A&M," Guerrieri said. She comes in as a grad transfer after leading Grand Canyon to a conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance last year.
Pirro started her collegiate career at San Diego, earning All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention for the Toreros during the elongated 2020-21 covid campaign.
The Simi Valley, California, native, who did not see action in 2021, arrives in Aggieland with two years of eligibility. Pirro has amassed 51 collegiate caps with 49 starts in her three seasons. She owns 30 career points on six goals and 18 assists.
Pirro prepped at Grace Brethren High School where she helped lead the Lancers to a CIF Southern Regional title game, state championship match and a Tri-Valley League crown during her career. She clubbed with Real So Cal and Eagles SC.
