Mar 20, 2024 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Texas A&M women's basketball team is set to battle the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Championship Friday inside Gill Coliseum.
The No. 11 seeded Aggies (19-12) are making their first March Madness appearance in the Joni Taylor era after improving on last year's win total by 10 victories. They take on No. 6 seed Nebraska (22-11) at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU in hopes of advancing to the second round for the 15th time in program history.
Aicha Coulibaly paces the Aggies in points (13.2) and steals (2.4) per game. Endyia Rogers made her return to the court in the SEC Tournament after missing six games due to injury. The Dallas native ranks sixth in the country in assist-turnover ratio (2.9) and second on Texas A&M with 12.5 points per game.
The Maroon & White are the No. 15 rebounding team in the nation, hauling in 42.3 boards per game. Janiah Barker and Lauren Ware bolster the frontcourt with each averaging just under eight rebounds per game. Barker pours in 12.2 points per game while Ware patrols the paint with 1.7 blocks each time out.
If Texas A&M advances past the Huskers, the Aggies take on the winner of Friday's Oregon State-Eastern Washington matchup Sunday in Corvallis.
