Mar 09, 2024 | Track and Field
BOSTON – The Texas A&M track & field program wrapped up competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships at The Track at New Balance Saturday night as the men's squad placed sixth with 24 points and the women took 14th with 16.5 points. The Aggies racked up 10 first-team All-America honors on day two as they closed out the indoor season.
The Aggies started the day in the field, as Lamara Distin and Ushan Perera competed in the high jump events. Distin cleared five bars in the competition, with her highest leap soaring over 1.97m/6-5.5 to place second in the event and earn first-team All-America honors, the sixth of her career. Perera secured second-team All-America honors of his own, following a clearance of 2.15m/7-0.5, which ranked him 13th in the event.
Auhmad Robinson continued the early momentum in the men's 400m finals, as the junior ran the second-fastest time of the day and school history, crossing the line in 44.91 to ensure his first team All-America honor. He was one of only two athletes to run sub-45.0 seconds on the day, and now trails only Aggie all-time great Fred Kerley in the history books.
Ja'Qualon Scott and Connor Schulman added critical points for the Maroon & White in the men's 60m hurdles final. The duo logged a 3-5 finish, with Scott finishing in 7.59 and Schulman close behind in a time of 7.66. Their performances garnered them first-team All-America honors.
The final event of the men's competition saw the quartet of Robinson, Jevon O'Bryant, Scott and Kimar Farquharson win the second heat of the 4x400m relay in a season's best 3:03.35. The time was the third-fastest on the day, earning the group first-team All-America honors and moving them up a spot to No. 9 in the Texas A&M history books.
On the track for the women, Jermaisha Arnold established herself among the nation's best in the women's 400m, as she jumped three spots from her qualifying position and ran 51.83 which ranked her fifth in the final. In the 60m, Semira Killebrew ran her second-fastest time while donning the Maroon & White, finishing seventh in 7.20. Both Arnold and Killebrew earned themselves first-team All-America honors.
Texas Tech secured the team win on the men's side, while Arkansas won the team championship on the women's side.

Coach's Quotes
Head coach Pat Henry on the team's performance at the championships…
"I thought our men's team did an outstanding job today. The group all round put up some great marks and impressed me. Auhmad [Robinson] running 44.91 is extremely fast, Ja'Qualon [Scott] and Connor [Schulman] ran great times in the 60m hurdles. Then the 4x400m relay at the end ran really well and ranked third in the country which was a great end to the meet.
"The women had some good performances today, Lamara [Distin] was in an incredibly tough competition and still jumped really well. Jermaisha [Arnold] ran a great time in a competitive 400m final. Semira [Killebrew] ran two good times in both her prelims and finals. The women's relay had a tough day, but we will learn from it and be ready for outdoors."
