
No. 11 Aggies Sweep Missouri for Fifth-Straight Win

COLUMBIA – The No. 11 Texas A&M women's tennis team claimed its fifth-straight win as it swept Missouri Friday afternoon at the Mizzou Tennis Complex, 7-0.
The Aggies (17-6, 9-1 SEC) continued their dominance in SEC doubles play, as they secured their ninth doubles point against the Tigers (4-18, 0-10 SEC). No. 5 Mary Stoiana/Mia Kupres gave Texas A&M the early edge, defeating No. 65 Inah Canete/Mae Canete, 6-3. Sydney Fitch/Daria Smetannikov joined the party with their first SEC doubles victory as a pair, downing Andria Artimedi/Emelie Schwarte (6-2) to ensure the point.
Doubling the A&M advantage was No. 1 Stoiana, as she claimed her 17th dual match singles win of the season on court 1, extending her win-streak to five. The junior came out hot from the start, only dropping one game in her matchup against Mae Canete (6-1, 6-0).
No. 38 Kupres left the Maroon & White one point from victory with her 15th dual match win of the season. She faced Inah Cante on court 2, besting the Tiger 6-1, 6-2.
Lucciana Perez dealt the match-clinching blow on court 3, as the freshman claimed her fifth-straight singles match downing Schwarte in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) for the team win, 4-0.
The Maroon & White secured the sweep with three more victories after the match result was sealed. Jeanette Mireles won her seventh conference singles match of the year on court 4, as she bested Roma Cardenas Rifka (6-1, 6-1). Ellie Pittman dominated her matchup with Sophia McLellen on court 6, never dropping a game (6-0, 6-0). Smetannikov claimed the last point of the day on court 5, edging out Artimedi in a tiebreaker (7-5, 2-6, 1-0(3)).
