May 10, 2024 | Softball
AUBURN – Junior Koko Wooley delivered a two-RBI double to walk-off South Carolina, 3-2, to send Texas A&M to the SEC Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history, Friday afternoon at Jane B. Moore Field.
Down to the final two outs, Wooley stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and sent the Gamecocks home with a double over the center fielder's head. Kramer Eschete led off with a walk, before Kennedy Powell singled and Trinity Cannon walked to juice the bases.
Emiley Kennedy dominated the circle, striking out 10 batters, including at least one batter in each of six innings, for her sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season. The left-handed pitcher improved her record to 21-10 and registered her 21st complete game of the season.
The Gamecocks (34-22) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the opening frame before Trinity Cannon blasted a first-pitch swinging home run to left field to even the game. Texas A&M (40-12) threatened on numerous occasions but came up empty leaving runners on base in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Wooley led the offense hitting 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Cannon reached base successfully each plate appearance with a home run and three walks.
