Texas A&M Drops Extra Innings Thriller at Texas, 9-8

Texas A&M (44-14) had its back against the wall, facing a three-run deficit with two outs and two on when freshman Mya Perez hit her first career home run to even the score, 8-8, as the game moved to extra innings.
The two teams exchanged scoreless half innings in the eighth, before Texas (51-8) plated a run on a fielder's choice to lead 9-8 heading into the bottom of the ninth. Jazmine Hill led off with a single up the middle for her third hit of the game, before the Longhorns forced a lineout and pop up. Stepping to the plate with two-outs, Perez reached on a catcher's interference before the final out was made on a fielder's choice to second.
Texas A&M drew first blood in the bottom of the second inning when Julia Cottrill walked, followed by Hill smashing a two-run tater to left center for her ninth home run of the season. Five batters later, Kennedy Powell delivered an RBI single through the right side to score Scout Lovell from second base for the early 3-0 lead.
Texas threatened the following half inning loading the bases with one out, before Aggie starter Emiley Kennedy recorded her first strikeout of the day and forced a ground out to escape unscathed. The Longhorns chipped at the deficit with a solo home run in the fourth.
Ol' Sarge's charges extended the lead after Trinity Cannon knocked her third-round tripper of the Super Regional and 18th of the season with a two-run shot to lead 5-1 after the fifth inning.
The Longhorns gained its first lead scoring five runs on four hits to make it 6-5 heading to the bottom of the sixth, before adding a pair of runs in the seventh.
Kennedy (24-11) suffered the loss pitching 7.2 innings allowing six runs on 14 hits and three walks, while Brooke Vestal tossed 1.1 innings of relief, yielding three runs, one walk and one hit.
