Aggies Host San Diego, Sam Houston this Weekend

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team hosts San Diego and Sam Houston for 1 p.m. matches at the Mitchell Tennis Center, Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The Maroon & White (3-0) won the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship against TCU (4-0) in their last match. The Aggies have swept all three opponents this season and have won 58-straight matches at home.
Headlining the lineup for Texas A&M is the reigning ITA National Player of the Year and No. 4 ranked singles player in the country, Mary Stoiana, who is 8-2 on the season with a team-high seven ranked wins. No. 15 Nicole Khirin, who garnered All-American status over the fall, is just behind Stoiana with six ranked victories and is on a five-match winning streak heading into the weekend. No. 102 Daria Smetannikov has also won five-consecutive matches for the Aggies and leads the team in singles victories with 18.
Rounding out the lineup for the Maroon & White are 2024 doubles All-American Mia Kupres, 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year and ITA Texas Region Rookie of the Year Lucciana Perez and freshman Lexington Reed, who holds an 11-2 singles record and leads the team in doubles victories (11) in her first season with the Aggies.
Texas A&M holds a 4-3 all-time record versus San Diego (2-2) and is 10-0 against Sam Houston (1-1).
Two other ranked players are featured in singles action this weekend, including No. 31 Kailey Evans and No. 105 Hannah Read of San Diego. In doubles action, San Diego's Claudia de las Heras/Evans pair to make the No. 38 duo in the nation.
