HOUSTON – The No. 1 Texas A&M baseball team fell to Oklahoma State 4-0 Saturday night at the Astros Foundation College Classic at Daikin Park.
The Aggies (5-4) committed four errors that led to a pair of runs for the Cowboys (5-4) and were held to four hits on the night.
Starter Justin Lamkin suffered the loss after allowing four runs, two earned, over 6.2 innings of work. The left-hander struck out a season-high 10 batters. In relief, Luke Jackson worked 2.1 scoreless frames to go along with four strikeouts.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring in the third with a solo homer that banged off the foul pole down the left field line. In the fourth, the Cowboys tacked on two more runs to their lead courtesy of an RBI triple and a Texas A&M fielding error.
A pair of Aggie miscues in the fifth allowed another run to score as the deficit grew to 4-0.
In the ninth, Texas A&M looked to make some noise as they put runners on the corners with no outs but were unable to scratch across a run as they fell 4-0.
