MEET PREVIEW: NCAA Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH – The Texas A&M track & field team travels to the Virginia Beach Sports Center for the indoor-season finale at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 14-15.
The Aggies take a group of 23 to the National Championships, following the programs first SEC indoor title on the men's side and a fifth-place finish on the women's. The team's both enter the final indoor meet of the season ranked in the top-15 nationally, as the men rank third, while the women sit at 13th.
A&M has 16 entries in the meet spread across the men's and women's team, with the men having 10 including five on the track and five in the field. For the women, they have four entries on the track and two in the field.
SEC Championships Recap
The Aggie men captured the programs' first SEC Indoor Championships title after a dominant three-day showing. The men's team captured nine medals throughout the meet, including five gold, three silver and one bronze.
A&M's event winners included the distance medley relay team consisting of Luca Santorum, Cutler Zamzow, Caden Norris and Cooper Cawthra, Blake Harris in the heptathlon, Auhmad Robinson in the 400m, Sam Whitmarsh in the 800m and the final men's title came in the 4x400m courtesy of Robinson, Zamzow, Antonie Nortje and Kimar Farquharson. The men also captured three silver medals courtesy of Jack Mann III (pole vault), Ja'Qualon Scott (60m hurdles) and Cawthra (mile), while Khybah Dawson added a bronze in the long jump.
On the women's side, the group obtained four medals, one gold, two silver and one bronze. Winny Bii won the triple jump, Camryn Dickson and Sofia Yakushina claimed silvers in the 200m and pentathlon, respectively, while Jaiya Covington rounded out the group earning bronze in the 60m hurdles.
Last Year's Championships
At the 2024 championships, the men brought home a sixth-place finish as they finished the championships with 24 points. The group secured eight All-America honors, including seven first team and one second team.
The women accumulated 16.5 points at last year's championships, with nine All-America honors. Four of the nine were first team, while five were second team accolades.
The Field
The list of competitors at the NCAA Championships is made up of the top-16 performing athletes nationally in every individual event, and the top-12 ranking relays.
