Aggies Host DBU and Sam Houston for Saturday Mini-Matches

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team welcomes Dallas Baptist and Sam Houston to Ellis Field for a series of truncated matches Saturday.
The Aggies battle DBU at 1 p.m. and Sam Houston at 4 p.m. The Patriots and Bearkats face each other at 2:30 p.m. Each competition is slated for 60 minutes.
Admission is free. Due to baseball action at Blue Bell Park, there will be a parking fee at many of the lots on west campus.
Saturday marks the second chance for fans to see an exciting group in the Maroon & White featuring 12 newcomers. The new Aggies on the block includes seven transfers and five early enrollee freshmen. The roster also features four redshirt freshmen returning to the lineup after playing a combined one match in 2024 campaign before suffering season-ending injuries.
Texas A&M's rebuild includes 12 returning letterwinners looking to get the Maroon & White back to their winning ways which in concluded 26 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 1995-2020.
The Aggies started the spring slate last week with a tightly contest match against Baylor. The Bears pulled away with a pair of goals in the final five minutes for a 2-0 victory.
DBU is an NCAA Division II power. Last season, the Patriots were 16-3-3 with a 10-1-2 mark in Lone Star Conference action. The advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, falling to rival Angelo State, 1-0, in overtime. All three of DBU's losses in 2024 were against Angelo State.
Sam Houston is coming off an 8-7-3 season, including a 5-4-0 mark in Conference USA action. The Bearkats experienced upheaval Wednesday with their head coach Sonia Curvelo announced as the new skipper at San Jose State.
Saturday is the second of three spring exhibition dates for the Aggies at Ellis Field. Texas A&M wraps up the Ellis Field portion of the spring slate on Friday, April 18 with a 7 p.m. match against the Houston Cougars.
In the first of their road matches, the Aggies battle rival TCU in Fort Worth on Sunday, April 6. Texas A&M heads to Houston Saturday, April 12 for mini-matches against Texas Tech (2:30 p.m.) and Rice (4 p.m.).
