Aggies Host No. 21 South Carolina for Friday Night Bout

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team looks to keep its 66-match home win streak going Friday as they host the No. 21 South Carolina Gamecocks. Match time at Mitchell Tennis Center is 5 p.m.
The Aggies (21-2, 12-1 SEC) are protecting their undefeated 12-0 home record as well as attempting to extend their overall win streak to seven matches. With two contests left in the regular season, Texas A&M trails first-place No. 1 Georgia (20-1, 13-0 SEC) by one match in the SEC standings.
The Aggies have five players in the ITA Collegiate Rankings. Mary Stoiana at No. 2, followed by Nicole Khirin at No.14, Lucciana Perez at No. 55, Mia Kupres at No. 68, and Daria Smetannikov at No. 90. The doubles tandem of Stoiana/Perez are slotted No. 38.
South Carolina enters the fray in eighth place in the SEC standings and need late wins to stay in the top half heading into the tournament. The Gamecocks own a 13-8 record with an 8-5 record in SEC play. Sarah Hamner is South Carolina's top ranked player at No. 13 followed by Kaitlyn Carnicella at No. 58. Hamner and Carnicella are also slotted at No. 21 in the doubles rankings.
