No. 2 Aggies Host No. 1 Georgia for SEC Title

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team hosts a winner-take-all match against the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs for the outright SEC regular season title.
The Aggies and Bulldog head into the finale of the conference slate knotted atop the standings at 13-1. Texas A&M owns a 22-2 overall mark while Georgia enters the fray at 20-2.
The teams met earlier this season in the title match of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Evanston, Illinois. Georgia prevailed 4-1 against the Aggies who made their first appearance in the finals of the event.
Texas A&M owns a seven-match win streak and 67-match home win stretch heading into the contest.
The Aggies feature back-to-back SEC Player of the Year Mary Stoiana. Rated No. 2 in the nation singles action, Stoiana has claimed SEC Player of the Week recognition three times this spring. She boasts a 21-4 record, including a 17-4 mark against ranked opponents and a 13-2 record in dual action.
The Maroon & White have four other players slotted in the ITA Collegiate Rankings. Nicole Khirin checks in at No. 14 followed by Lucciana Perez (No. 55), Mia Kupres (No. 68) and Daria Smetannikov (No. 90). The doubles team of Stoiana/Perez were placed at No. 38.
Two-time SEC Freshman of the Week Lexington Reed is emerging as a force in the back half of the lineup. She owns a 24-6 mark, including a 9-1 record in SEC action.
Georgia is highlighted by No. 1 Dasha Vidmanova who boasts a 28-3 mark in 2024-25. The Bulldogs have three other players in the singles rankings, including No. 42 Aysegul Mert, No. 55 Anastasiia Lopata and No. 91 Guillermina Grant.
