Aggies Suffer First Road Loss of Season in Series Finale to Mizzou, 9-1
Apr 18, 2025 | Softball
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 1 Texas A&M softball team dropped its first true road game of the season giving up four home runs and leaving 10 runners on base in a five-inning run-rule drubbing to Missouri, 9-1, Friday afternoon at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
Kennedy Powell led off the game with a single and stole second before Amari Harper followed with a walk. After a strikeout and popup, Koko Wooley singled to shortstop to load the bases with two outs. Texas A&M (39-6, 13-4 SEC) spoiled the opportunity as the ensuing batter flied out to right field.
Missouri (23-26, 4-14 SEC) led the bottom half with a home run to left field, followed by a double before consecutive outs to lead 1-0. The Tigers made it a crooked first inning with a two-out three-run home run to left for a 4-0 advantage.
After a scoreless second frame, Harper led off with a hit-by-pitch and Mya Perez followed with a hit-by-pitch. Mac Barbara put the Aggies on the board with a single to right field to score Harper and make it a 4-1 game. Texas A&M loaded the bases as Wooley reached first on a bunt, before the Aggies spoiled another golden opportunity with a fly out, fielder's choice and ground out to end the top of the third.
The Tigers hit their third home run of the game to lead off the bottom half, while an RBI double extended the lead 6-1 after three innings of action. Mizzou added three more runs on three hits in the fifth inning to hand Texas A&M its first road loss, 9-1.
Emily Leavitt was saddled with her first loss of the season after one inning of work, while yielding three hits, one walk and four runs.
NEXT UP
The Aggies return to the Brazos Valley to host Louisiana on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Davis Diamond. The midweek game is nationally broadcast on the SEC Network with Courtney Lyle (play-by-play) and Danielle Lawrie (analyst) on the call.
