Aggies Claim Three Titles on Final Day of Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The Texas A&M track & field team captured three titles on the final day of the Penn Relays Saturday at Franklin Field.
The Maroon & White capped off a successful week in Philadelphia, as they added a pair of Penn Relay wheels to the program total which now stands at 35, while claiming another individual title, marking A&M's third of the weekend.
Capturing the first Penn Relays wheel of the day was the women's 4x100m quartet of Latasha Smith, Camryn Dickson, Bria Bullard and Jasmine Montgomery. The squad crossed the line in 43.75 for the win after a chase down kick on the home straight from Montgomery, the victory marks A&M's ninth in the event which ranks second all-time in Penn Relays history.
Looking to defend their 4x400m title from last season, the men's group consisting of Cutler Zamzow, Eric Hemphill III, Kimar Farquharson and Auhmad Robinson did just that as they brought it home in 3:02.36 to ensure their second-straight win in the event and capture the fifth in program history.
Ja'Qualon Scott claimed the final victory of the Penn Relays for the Maroon & White while battling the elements, as he won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.64. On the women's side of the hurdles, Jaiya Covington and Jasmine Harmon secured a two-three finish as they ran 13.00 and 13.17, respectively.
The men's 4xMile group consisting of Victor Kibiego, Ondrej Gajdos, Gilbert Rono and Diego Heredia started the day for the Maroon & White, running in the event for the first time in program history. They crossed the line in 16:31.10 which stands as the school record in the event.
A&M added another pair of top-three relay finishes, as the women's 4x400m group of Smith, Dickson, Montgomery and Jaydan Wood clocked a time of 3:29.12 which was good for second. Moving back to the men, the 4x100m squad consisting of Ernest Campbell, Blake Holland, Mason Mangum and Scott finished third in 39.91.
