Seven Aggies Earn NFCA All-Region Central Accolades

LOUISVILLE – Seven Aggies from Texas A&M's softball team earned NFCA All-Region Central honors, the organization announced Thursday. Mac Barbara, KK Dement, Emiley Kennedy and Koko Wooley garnered first team recognition, while Allie Enright and Mya Perez earned second team honors and Kennedy Powell was named to the third team.
The seven honors match the program record set in 1982. Wooley was named to her fourth career NFCA All-Region team and second first team after doing so last season. Kennedy is the first Aggie pitcher to earn first team recognition in consecutive seasons since Samantha Show in 2017 and 2018, while Dement is the first Aggie freshman to be named to a first team since Cali Lanphear in 2013.
Barbara has started 52 games, including 46 at designated player the previous six at catcher. The graduate is second on the team with 60 RBI, while batting .367 at the dish with 10 home runs, eight doubles. Barbara leads the Aggies with 34 RBI against ranked opponents, while hitting half of her home runs. Situationally, Barbara has been a menace batting .524 (11-for-21) with runners in scoring position and two outs. She boasts a 1.095 slugging percentage with three home runs and three doubles, while driving in 18 runs in the situation.
Dement has been one of the top freshman in the region and recently earned SEC All-Tournament Team honors after batting .429 at the plate with two home runs and matching the SEC Tournament record with nine RBI. The Selma, Calif., native, leads the Aggies with 25 two-out RBI and ranks second on the team with 13 home runs. Dement has hit seven of her 13 homers this season against ranked opponents, while adding 33 RBI and 17 runs against top 25 opponents. Her 15 doubles lead the Aggies this season, while she is one of four to have played in every game this year.
Kennedy boasts a 21-4 record with a 2.68 ERA, while tossing 18 complete games in the 22 starts she's made. The Woodlands, Texas, product has four shutouts against ranking opponents, while going 13-4 with 13 complete games and holding top 25 opponents to a .216 batting average. The senior has registered 558 career strikeouts, becoming only one of 10 Aggie flamethrowers to accomplish the feat. She ranks No. 11 in the nation with six shutouts this season, while her 21 wins this season led the SEC.
Wooley is one of the most electrifying players in the nation and is batting .393 at the plate, including three triples, 12 doubles, while adding 46 runs and 15 stolen bases. The senior has placed her name all over the Texas A&M record books ranking top 10 in career triples (17), hits (244), stolen bases (79) and runs (167). The senior garnered All-SEC Second Team recognition and SEC All-Tournament Team honors, while she helped lead the Aggies to their first ever SEC Tournament title game and first conference title.
Enright has been a mainstay in the Aggie outfield leading the group defensively, while keeping runners from advancing extra bases with her strong arm. The senior is fourth on the team with seven home runs, while three of them have come against ranked opponents. She's driven in 36 runs, while adding 29 runs and is one of five Aggies to have 10-plus doubles this season.
Perez garnered her first career NFCA All-Region team honor after a breakout sophomore season slashing .447/.578/.830, while leading the Aggies in numerous offensive categories including home runs (14), RBI (68), hits (63), slugging percentage (.830), batting average (.447) and walks (35). The Corona, Calif., native has done her most damage against ranked opponents averaging .400 at the dish with seven homers, six doubles, 28 RBI and a 1.304 OPS in 28 games. Perez garnered All-SEC First Team honors, while she was the lone Aggie to earn multiple SEC weekly awards during the season.
