Aggies Face No. 3 Michigan in NCAA Semifinal Round

WACO – The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team clashes with the No. 3 Michigan Wolverines in Saturday's NCAA Championship semifinal action. Match time is 1 p.m. at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center.
The Aggies enter the fray with a 29-3 overall record, including winning a share of their fourth consecutive SEC regular-season title with a 14-1 league ledger.
Texas A&M has wins over Quinnipiac (4-0), UC Santa Barbara (4-1), No. 17 UCLA (4-2) and No. 10 Tennessee (4-2) en route to the national semifinal. The Aggies have been successful in their two prior trips to the NCAA semis, finishing as runner-up in 2013 and winning the program's first national title last season.
ITA No. 1-ranked Mary Stoiana leads the Aggies into battle with a 28-5 record, including 20-3 in dual action. No. 13 Nicole Khirin leads the team in singles victories, boating a 31-7 mark with 15-3 record on court 2. No. 67 Mia Kupres, who clinched the NCAA quarterfinal win against the Volunteers, paces the team in dual victories with her 23-4 mark. Lucciana Perez (No. 51) and Daria Smetannikov (No. 109) are also nationally ranked entering play.

The Wolverines are 27-4 and have victories against Youngstown State (4-0), Arizona State (4-0), No. 14 Texas (4-3) and No. 20 Oklahoma State (4-0) on their trek to Saturday's confrontation. Michigan features four ranked singles players, including No. 6 Julia Fleigner, No. 21 Piper Charney, No. 46 Lily Jones and No. 68 Emily Startz-Lunde.
The Wolverines own a 2-1 edge in the all-time series. The lone postseason match came in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament with Michigan prevailing 4-3 in Ann Arbor.
The winner faces No. 1 Georgia or No. 5 North Carolina in Sunday's NCAA Championship final slated for 4 p.m.
