Aggies Split Saturday Doubleheader with No. 2 LSU

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M baseball team split a pair of pitcher's duels with No. 2 LSU Saturday in front of 15,098 rowdy fans at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies (26-20, 9-14) picked up a 3-1 victory in the series opener behind a strong pitching performance from Ryan Prager before dropping game two to the Tigers (38-10, 15-8) by a final of 2-1.
Game One: Aggies 3, Tigers 1
Prager (3-3) earned the win in the series opener after delivering seven innings of one-run baseball to go along with five strikeouts. In relief, Kaiden Wilson recorded 1 1/3 scoreless frames and a strikeout en route to his first career save.
Ben Royo led the offensive attack for the Maroon & White as the junior went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native's multi-hit game marked his third in the last five contests.
Following a scoreless first, the Aggies opened the scoring in the second with a two-out RBI double from Royo.
After the Tigers evened the score with a solo homer in the sixth, the Maroon & White answered in the seventh with a pair of runs to jump in front 3-1.
Royo continued his hot hitting with a leadoff triple and came home to score on a pinch-hit RBI single from Hayden Schott. Later in the frame, Caden Sorrell plated Sawyer Farr, who pinch-ran for Schott, with a sacrifice fly to center.
In the eighth, Wilson entered with the bases loaded and two outs and proceeded to force a flyout to right to end the LSU threat. The left-hander also worked around a pair of baserunners in the ninth to seal the 3-1 victory.

After five scoreless frames, the Tigers struck first in the sixth with a pair of runs courtesy of an RBI double and an RBI bunt single.
In the bottom half, Royo answered for the Aggies with a 391-foot solo blast to left center. The long ball marked the junior's ninth of the season and third in the last three games.
The Maroon & White were only able to record two baserunners over the final three frames as they dropped game two, 2-1.
Starter Justin Lamkin (3-6) was handed the loss despite working 5 1/3 innings of two-run baseball. The lefty also struck out six on the night. In relief, Caden McCoy totaled 3 2/3 scoreless frames to go along with six strikeouts.
